Key areas where used

Method of use

The peripheral vein is identified and the insert site cleaned. The needle with cannula is advanced into the vein and flashback observed in the tubing below the wings. Once the cannula is in place the vein is occluded and the needle withdrawn through the tubing and removed. In the case of the Saf-T-Intima the needle is automatically shielded within a safety chamber as it is removed and then detached from the rest of the device. Wings may be taped down with dressing if required. The cannula may then be connected to giving sets or extension sets and used for either infusion or blood taking purposes.
