Method of use

A peripheral vein is identified and insertion site is cleaned. The needle is advanced into the vein with the bevel facing upwards and flashback is observed into the tubing just below the wings. The wings maybe taped down with a dressing to secure the needle if required. Can be connected to giving sets or extension sets and used for either infusion or blood taking purposes.

Please note: THIS SHOULD NOT BE USED AS AN INDWELLING DEVICE - Health care workers are advised against using the butterfly for infusions because of the potential for needle stick injury and tissue damage. A plastic cannula over needle is recommended for this purpose.
